Introduction to mindfulness : How to navigate the storms of life
Saturday 9th November
10am – 3pm
This one-day Workshop will introduce you to the many benefits of Mindfulness. Mindfulness has become a ‘buzz word’ but not everyone knows what it involves. This Workshop is aimed at both beginners and also experienced Meditators looking to discover new techniques.
Over the course of the day you will be introduced to various practices which can be adapted to fit in with your everyday life. The benefits of Mindfulness are many:
Calming the mind and becoming aware of automatic pilot
Providing techniques to cope with day-to-day stress
Encouraging awareness of the body and enabling relaxation
Cultivating a kindly attitude towards yourself
Nelson David who runs the session says:
“I was born in a convent and given up for adoption as a baby within weeks. For decades this painful truth had a profound effect on my life which became a great struggle for me.
Despite my problems I had many successful years as a comedy writer and TV Commercials Actor but these achievements never brought contentment or peace of mind.
Discovering Meditation, quite by chance, turned out to be a ‘game changer’ for me. Life is not easy for anyone but Meditation and Mindfulness have enabled me to improve the quality of life for myself and – I hope – for those around me.
It is not a cure-all (nothing is) but it is a gift.
In this turbulent world it is a great refuge and continues to be an inspiration.
Nelson has studied Vipassana Meditation for 15 years. More recently he completed an 8-week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course and then went on to participate in the year-long MBCT Teacher Training Foundation Course, both at the renowned Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
