Did you know that may is national walking month? A great excuse for making the most of the longer days and spring sunshine.
A good walk can do wonders for your wellbeing – there’s something about being outdoors, listening to birdsong and the soothing nature of a gentle walk that really can really lift the spirits. If you can do just one thing this month for your health and wellbeing, try to make time in your day for a 20 minute walk.
A recent study based on an app called Urban Mind has found that the positive effects of a walk can last for up to seven hours. So walking to the station in the morning or taking the dog for a stroll in the park really can make a difference!
We have been thinking about creating a walking group at on route – so hopefully may will be the month when we make that happen. There – we’ve said it now: no going back!
And we’ll definitely be thinking of other ways to celebrate the simple pleasures of a good walk. Keep a look out on our Facebook and twitter pages for more details!
